This type of hat is made by only one man on an isolated island off the coast of Sumbawa Island. This man is the eldest son of a family that has made these hats for generations, and he still uses the traditional techniques taught him by his parents and grandparents. Made of hand plaited and formed fine-guage copper wire, these hats were used by the elders and musicians in important ritual ceremonies. There is nothing like them in any other Indonesian culture.

This hat features a bud ornament atop a long stem on the crown. The brim is gently curved upwards into a concave shape. Mounted on a custom steel stand.
