Standing Buddha In A Protective Posture
The Buddha has the hand & finger gesture, “Mudra Abhaya”, which in Sanskrit means fearlessness. Thus this Mudra symbolizes protection, peace, and the dispelling of fear. Mudras are a non-verbal mode of communication, consisting of hand & finger postures. They are used to evoke in the mind ideas symbolizing divine powers of the deities themselves.
